The Spy & The Sparrow
SYNOPSIS
The Spy and the Sparrow is a compelling, dramatic thriller about the deep devotion and repressed love that reunites a father and daughter after over two decades of separation.

Twenty-five years ago, Tommy Sparrow was severely wounded in a covert CIA operation gone horribly wrong. Worse, when Tommy came home, he discovered his wife living with another man. Tommy’s rage and raw, unhealed wounds frighten his five-year-old daughter, Josephine. Tommy’s wife tells him that he should leave and never come home; despite his overwhelming love for Josephine, Tommy is so emotionally broken that he runs, disappearing into the source of his only success: CIA covert operations.

Twenty-five years later, Tommy is now retired from his dangerous work, saddled with injuries, guilt, and world-weary cynicism. He finally comes home to confront his deepest emotional scar – the fear of rejection that is the true wall separating him from a real relationship with Josephine. At first all he can bring himself to do is watch her – spy on her – from afar, but what he sees will ultimately compel him to action.

Josephine is now in her thirties, very much alone, battling her own fatherless past and her destructive present, filled with too many men and too much alcohol, which incites a fierce custody battle with her ex-husband over their daughter, Erin. An embarrassing public accident shocks her into trying to change her life, but she quickly learns an insurmountable truth – that her efforts to change may be too late to save her relationship with her daughter.

At first, Tommy’s guilt and fear overwhelm him, preventing him from engaging with Josephine, even though it is excruciatingly clear that she needs him desperately. It is only when Tommy’s CIA past refuses to stay buried that Tommy is finally forced to explore the depth of his love for Josephine, and realizes that he must make a dangerous sacrifice to assure she can have the family that he could not.

When Tommy “breaks through the wall” that has separated father and daughter for twenty-five years, he sets out on his most dangerous mission. A mission that could cost him his life. A mission to save his daughter. A mission to finally prove his love.

Interweaving a rich texture of past sins and present redemptions, The Spy and The Sparrow explores both the joy and tragedy of love, understanding, and forgiveness.
